On 12th December, the Fair Work Commission announced updates to several awards that will come into effect from the first full pay period on or after 1st January 2018.
The amendments impact certain overtime rates and minimum shift entitlements for casual and part-time employees.

What to do next?
If your business doesn’t have employees covered by any of the above awards, then you are able to sit back and enjoy the last working day before Christmas.
If you do have staff employed under any of the above awards, then you may be required to make updates to the awards in your payroll system to ensure you are ready for these upcoming changes.
The changes to the rates and entitlements are different for each award. For your business to be compliant from 2018, you will need to review the changes made to each award covering your employees, carefully.
